Turn your PC into a TiVo

Everyone has heard of Tivo, the gadget that lets you digitally record TV programs, pause and rewind live TV. With all of the features of a Tivo (and then some,) MythTV can turn any suitably equipped PC into a digital video recorder. With two or more TV tuner cards, you can record multiple channels at the same time. You can skip commercials when you watch them, and even watch with picture-in-picture. With an electronic program guide, MythTV is very easy to use, but it's not necessarily so easy to set up. With top-of-the-line compression technology, MythTV is a formable opponent to other DVR products. The program is open source so coders can juice it up even further.
