The freeware ADRC Data Recovery Tools v1.0 gives you the ability to undelete files (even after emptying the recycle bin) — which is enough for most of us right there. The software also provides a bunch of uber-geeky data recovery tools, including raw copying of files (that is, copying an entire partition in binary), disk-to-disk image backup, and copying of files from a drive with bad sectors. You can even edit, repair, or restore your corrupted boot parameters. The program is designed to be compact and doesn't require installation: it'is less than 100kb for easy storage and incorporates extremely simple GUI. The program supports a wide variety of drives (fixed and removable drives), file systems (FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS) on Windows 95/98, Me, NT, 2000, XP and 2003 Server.
The data recovery software is indeed a boon to the users who are small scale users and they surely cannot afford the services of a data recovery company. Though there are come cases where the user cannot do it himself then he can visit a lab. In case of organisations where they cannot afford to loose any data it is ideal that they visit a nearby data recovery service lab such as Disk Doctors Labs Inc and avail their services as often we have seen that data losses have ruined the companies
While I’m all for freeware and the tasks that they help us do, I sometimes feel that a commercial level software is a better choice in certain situations; this is one of them. My take is that when you pay for a software you know that tons of serious testing and work have gone into the final product, whereas with freeware stringent testing is not always the case. That is why I’d much rather stick to my StompSoft’s Recover Lost Data software than rely on a potentially half-baked freeware application. Of course that is just my opinion.
