Life can get pretty complicated when you've got piles of files scattered around. If you have multiple computers, trying to keep them all in sync can be a nightmare.
DropBox is a service that lets you store, sync, and share files online. Download the appropriate client app for your system—it's available for Linux, Mac, and Windows—install it, and start sharing. All you need to do is drag-and-drop files on your desktop, just like with any other folder, into the DropBox folder. DropBox takes care of uploading your files, and making sure that versions all keep in sync. Now whether you want to retrieve a file on the original machine, or on another computer that's connected to your account, you won't have to worry about different versions of the same file.
DropBox is available for Linux, Mac, and Windows systems.
