Cobian Backup: It’s hard to forget to back your system up

Do you back up regularly? You know that you should, but you just don't get around to it, and then, well, you know what happens.

Cobian Backup is a versatile open source application that will allow you to easily schedule backups to a different directory on your system, another location on your network, or even to upload via FTP to a remote server. Rather than using a complicated compression scheme, Cobian Backup simply copies files and folders in their original form. Cobian Backup can be run as an application, or as a service on your Windows box, keeping an eye on your schedule and backing up as necessary. The application writes to a log file that can be examined locally, or you can email it to a yourself or another location so that you can always keep an eye on your backups.

Cobian Backup uses .ini files instead of Registry entries (except those necessary to run as a service), meaning that your system doesn't get all cluttered up. Cobian Backup runs on Windows systems under NT, 2000, and XP; the author reports running into some issues under Vista.
