How many different Instant Messaging clients do you run on your machine? With contacts on this network or that one, it'd be handy to have just one IM client to deal with, rather than having to fire up programs to try to deal with Yahoo, AOL, Microsoft, and everybody else's flavor.

Miranda is an all-in-one IM client. Compatible with all those networks and more, including ICQ, Jabber, and even IRC, you won't have to be running half a dozen Instant Messaging clients just to stay in touch with everybody. It has a very small footprint and can run from a diskette or a USB drive. It supports plugins—currently there are more than 350 available—to augment its core functionality.

Miranda is a Windows application. It's designed on run on any Win32 platform, including Win9x, ME, NT, 2000, all the way up to XP and Vista.

miranda is great, it’s all plugin based. which some may or may not like…..where as Pidgin has everything (for the most part, the protocols etc) bundles together.

I like Miranda since it blends in better with Windows. I’m guessing that’s because Pidgin using the GTK interface though.
