Where would we be without clipboards? I'm not talking about the clipboard your high school gym teacher always carried; I mean the clipboard on your computer that you use as a virtual scratch pad to transfer all the little cut-and-paste goodies you use every day to get anything done.

It's unfortunate that the native clipboard on most systems only has one slot and can only hold one piece of information at a time. When you save a new item to the clipboard, the previous occupant is no longer in the picture, never to be seen again. It might be handy to have access not just to the last thing you saved there, but maybe to that email address or phrase from a document that you copied a couple of hours ago instead.

ControlC lets you do just that. Instead of the contents of your system clipboard being here and then gone, it saves it for you. Now when you copy text to the clipboard, it's saved to a permanent archive. If you need to grab a snippet from earlier today—or maybe yesterday or before—it's still available to you.

As an added feature—or curse, depending on how you look at it—your clipboard snippets can be shared with others. I'm not quite sure why you'd want to, but hey, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla, right?
