Transfer bookmarks and favorites

Hardly a day goes by—or at least hardly a week does—without a new version of some big deal web browser being published. Sure, they've all got the greatest new features and can run rings around what you're already using, but there's one thing they definitely don't have: your bookmarks.

If you've been online for any time at all, you probably have a list of bookmarks and favorites longer than your arm, and it would be a major-league pain in the neck to have to move all that stuff over manually. Good thing there's a tool out there like Transmute.

This application is designed specifically to import and export bookmarks and favorites between different browsers. It supports Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Safari, and more, so your to- and from browsers are probably included. And it's easy to use; just pick your Source and Target browsers from the drop-down lists and let the exporting begin.

Transmute is a free download. It's a Windows application, although they do offer unsupported versions for Mac and Linux as well.

This is a PURCHASE ONLY piece of software. You are directed to a download site offering only TRANSMUTE PRO, which you must purchase. The version you are downloading makes changes which are only TEMPORARY and makes the software USELESS!!!

    Read on some more Ed.

    There’s the free Standard version.
Just click over to the download section.

Can you be more specific Dan?
    Where in the download section?
I looked in several categories and did a search and the best I could come up with is this same page.

So after going to and looked at the comparisons of Standard, Plus and Pro —- I wouldn’t touch the first with a ten foot pole. It does nearly nothing at all. The second and third do more things, but for $20 and $30 respectively. Outrageously priced!

Sadly, like many products found on FDAD – I had to Google search it just to find it. The best FDAD has become is an awareness email to me.

A few simple searches and free alternatives, with many more features the the Standard version, are easy to be had. I’ll let the groups I belong to know about this.

    Thanks anyway!

Daniel is correct. On the website, there are four greyscale selections on the right:Overview, Screenshots,FAQ, and Download. If you click on “Download” it will expand to show the different versions of the software, and “Free” is one of the options. Happy Loading:)
